 Louisiana Chiropractic Continuing Education Requirements

Louisiana chiropractors must complete 15 hours of continuing education each year, to be finished by December 31. Within those 15 hours, the state requires:

  • 2 hours in Risk Management
  • 1 hour in Ethics
  • The remaining hours in other board-approved clinical or professional topics

At this time, Louisiana does not accept online chiropractic CEU courses for renewal credit. Licensees must rely on in-person or other approved non-online deliveries.

 Exemptions for New Licensees

If you graduated from an accredited chiropractic college within the 12 months prior to Louisiana licensure, you are exempt from CE requirements for your first renewal.

After your initial renewal, you must begin meeting the standard 15-hour annual CE requirement, including the mandatory Risk Management and Ethics hours.

How to Report Your Louisiana CE Completion

To document compliance with Louisiana CE rules, you must submit certificates of completion for your approved courses when you renew your license.

Keep copies of all CE certificates in your personal files. This helps you respond quickly if the Board requests additional documentation or conducts an audit.

Online Chiropractic CEU Status & Future Updates

While many states now accept partial or full online chiropractic CE, Louisiana currently does not accept online CEU courses toward its 15 annual hours.

If Louisiana updates its rules to allow online CE, CCEDseminars will feature those changes in our state guidelines and email updates. Creating a free account makes it easier to stay informed as regulations evolve.

If you also hold licenses in other states that accept online CE, you can still use CCEDseminars courses for those jurisdictions while keeping your Louisiana CE in-person.
