Introduction:

Michigan Continuing Chiropractic Education Requirements:

In Michigan, chiropractors are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years. The state accepts 15 hours of Chiropractic CEU online and/or chiropractic webinars, allowing you the flexibility to fit your educational needs into your busy schedule.

Please note that the Michigan Board of Chiropractic limits the maximum number of chiropractic continuing education hours to 12 within a 24-hour period. Your continuing education requirements are due by 11/30 every other year, which must be completed within the two-year licensure period, immediately preceding the renewal of your DC's license. For instance, if you were initially licensed on or before November 30, your Chiropractic CE is due by the second November 30 after your initial licensing date and every two years thereafter.

Special Requirements:

As part of the continuing education requirements, there are some special requirements you need to fulfill. These include:

Starting June 1, 2022, Renewing licensees and registrants are required to complete 1 hour of implicit bias training for each year of their license or registration cycle.  New Applicants for licensure or registration are required to have completed 2 hours of implicit bias training within the 5 years immediately preceding issuance of the license or registration.  See our topic: Implicit Bias

  • One hour of pain and symptom management (Click HERE)
  • One hour of sexual boundaries (Click HERE)
  • One hour of ethics (Click HERE)
  • Two hours of physical measures and two hours on the performance and ordering of tests (Click HERE)

Additionally, the State of Michigan requires a one-time course in Human Trafficking, which is in addition to your continuing education hours (not to be included in the 30-hour requirement.

New Licensee Information:

If you are a new licensee, please note that continuing chiropractic education is not required during your first licensure cycle, which is less than a full cycle. However, it is crucial to be aware of the upcoming chiropractic CE requirements for future renewal cycles.

Reporting Requirements:
