Chiropractic Online Education Guidelines

The Council's guideline sets 30 hours every two years as the minimum continuing education requirement for members. Acceptable activities include workshops, seminars, online courses, webinars, and in-house training related to chiropractic care. The guideline encourages members to exceed the minimum.

The two-year measurement runs with your registration; the guideline itself does not fix a calendar date. Confirm your personal renewal date and the reporting window with the College, and keep the two-year clock in your own tracker rather than assuming a December 31 cycle.

The guideline names these four categories and assigns no minimum hours to any of them. It lists online courses and webinars as acceptable formats without a separate cap. Where an older summary says only six online hours count, or that business and practice content is excluded, it is describing a rule the current guideline does not contain.

The College approves continuing education courses for its members and publishes approved-course information. For a course that is not already approved, the guideline provides that members may submit it for College review; the College assesses submitted programs for relevance and quality.

The FCLB lists Prince Edward Island among the Canadian jurisdictions that do not accept PACE approval as such. That is why this page makes no automatic-acceptance claim for CCEDseminars courses: the operative pathway is College approval or member submission for review, and your CCEDseminars account displays approval status per course once Prince Edward Island is set as your jurisdiction.

The Chiropractors Regulations made under the Regulated Health Professions Act (EC767/26) designate chiropractic as a regulated health profession and continue the PEI Chiropractic Association as the Prince Edward Island College of Chiropractors. Alongside continuing education, a registrant must:

• hold current cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid certification at a level acceptable to the Council (s. 10);
• carry professional liability coverage of not less than $5,000,000 per claim and in aggregate, excluding legal costs (s. 9);
• demonstrate currency on application or reinstatement — within the preceding three years, completion of the accredited degree, active unrestricted practice acceptable to the Council, or a refresher program satisfactory to the registrar (s. 8);
• apply for reinstatement, if registration lapses, within three years (s. 5(2)).

The Council has also identified training in proper record keeping as an ongoing competency expectation, and it publishes a Record Keeping standard of practice.

Keep a record of every completed activity — course title, date, hours, and certificate of completion — and submit it at registration renewal or on the College's request. Newly licensed chiropractors have no CE requirement for their first renewal period. Extensions are available on request for extenuating circumstances such as illness.

Failure to complete the requirement may result in written notice from the College and suspension of registration until the requirement is met.
