Chiropractic Online Education Guidelines

This is the provision that shapes every Quebec CE plan. Of your 40 hours, at least 30 must come from activities offered by an organization recognized by the Order — « offertes par un organisme reconnu par l'Ordre ». The remaining hours are more flexible, but three quarters of your requirement runs through that gate.

Note what is being recognized: the organization, not the individual course. That differs from Alberta, where the College approves seminars one at a time and issues a reference number, and from Newfoundland, where a committee pre-approves each seminar before its date. In Quebec the question is simply whether the provider holds recognition.

So ask one question before you enrol anywhere: is this provider an organisme reconnu by the OCQ for the current reference period? Confirm it with the Order — for our courses or anyone else's — before counting hours toward the 30.

At least 2 hours of your 40 must be initial or requalification training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation including use of an automated external defibrillator, delivered by a certified organization or trainer.

There is a skip rule worth knowing. The requirement does not apply if such hours were already accumulated during the previous reference period — so RCR/DEA effectively lands on a four-year rhythm for most practitioners rather than every cycle. Check what you logged last period before booking a course you may not owe.

This component is hands-on and completed in person through a certified trainer — no online provider can satisfy it. Book it locally and file the attestation with your CE records.

Practical consequence for record-keeping: your declaration to the Order uses the regulation's vocabulary — période de référence, organisme reconnu, activités de formation continue. When you file, map your certificates onto those terms rather than the English equivalents used here.

Forty hours across two years is twenty a year — comfortable on volume. The work is in the sequencing, because the 30-hour gate and the CPR component behave differently from the rest.

A clean Quebec sequence: confirm your current reference period dates with the OCQ → check whether you logged RCR/DEA hours last period, since the skip rule may exempt you → confirm which providers hold organisme reconnu status for this period → build the 30 gated hours first → fill the balance with whatever best serves your practice.

How many CE hours do Quebec chiropractors need?

What subjects qualify for Quebec continuing education?

Does Quebec accept PACE-approved courses?

Quebec does not qualify continuing education through the FCLB's PACE program. The regulation's test is whether an activity is offered by an organization recognized by the Order, so accreditation held elsewhere does not substitute for OCQ recognition.
