Chiropractic Online Education Guidelines

Every offering is judged on its merits — curriculum, lecturers, and protocol — and attendance must be validated for both morning and afternoon sessions. The CAS Continuing Education Committee accepts most seminars provided by CMCC and other CCE-approved colleges, adhering to CAS guidelines. Seminars that promote monetary gain or unethical patient procurement are not acceptable.

These three items are the backbone of the inside-hour requirement. Track when each last fell due and schedule the next CAS offering early in the cycle; missing one is a bylaw matter, not just a CE shortfall.

Policy C credits material approved through CCE-recognized institutions, upon review, in three curricular areas: basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathology, microbiology, biochemistry and similar); clinical sciences (orthopedics, neurology, chronic and acute care, radiology, nutrition, sports injuries, psychology, diagnosis, toxicology, rheumatology, addiction counselling and similar); and chiropractic sciences — technique seminars taught at CMCC or other CCE-approved colleges, limited to modalities the Act and bylaws sanction, and philosophy seminars in four categories: history, metaphysical, epistemology, and ethics, including standards-of-practice seminars.

Each seminar is reviewed on its syllabus, its speakers' credentials and experience, and its presentation format including hours and attendance monitoring. Automatic approval is not given when a course falls outside these areas.

Beyond mainstream seminars, Policy C credits a set of secondary components, each capped per two-year cycle: manuscripts (case studies or literature reviews 4 hours, clinical investigations 6, major research publications 10; maximum 10 outside hours); CCEB examination participation or preparation (maximum 15 outside hours) and Federation accreditation-committee work (maximum 15); distance education and online learning — unlimited outside hours, approved by the CE Committee Chair; observing or participating in surgery (maximum 3 hours per surgery, maximum 3 outside hours per cycle); sitting recognized courses or university courses (maximum 25% of total credit hours); hospital rounds (maximum 7.5 outside hours); professional mentoring (maximum 7.5 outside hours); first aid courses (maximum 15 outside hours); and 5 outside hours per cycle for Board members and the Chairs of the Investigation, Discipline, Quality Assurance and CE Committees.

Writing national board examinations is not eligible for hours.

Chiropractic colleges apply to the CAS for approval of CE hours with a fee. Members apply at no fee using the Member Application for Approval of CE Hours, submitted with the course syllabus (session times and hours), the speaker's curriculum vitae, and the certificate of completion — or, for pre-approval, the certificate after the course is complete. Online hours are approved by the Chair of the CE Committee.

Certificates of completion are uploaded through the CAS Members' Portal, and the annual practice declaration asks you to confirm CE completion for the current cycle and valid BLS-C certification. Thirty hours of approved continuing education in each two-year period, under Policy C of the Chiropractors' Association of Saskatchewan (revised February 3, 2026) and the bylaws under The Chiropractic Act, 1994. Ten of the thirty must be inside hours earned at CAS-approved or CAS-provided seminars; the remaining twenty are outside hours.

Policy C lists distance education and online learning as a secondary component with unlimited outside hours, subject to approval by the Chair of the CE Committee. In practice that means up to twenty of the thirty hours can be online, because the other ten must be inside hours at CAS seminars. Summaries that say only ten hours may be online have the rule backwards: ten is the inside minimum, not an online cap.

Three items are mandated by Regulatory Bylaw 4(6) and credited as inside hours: CPR recertification every three years (four inside hours), the CAS record-keeping course every four years (six inside hours), and the CAS professional-boundaries course every four years beginning in 2022 (a minimum of two inside hours). New members review the record-keeping material for the provincial examination without CE credit.

Saskatchewan does not accept FCLB PACE approval as such, so CCEDseminars makes no automatic-acceptance claim. Policy C gives credit for online education and for material from CCE-recognized institutions upon review, and members apply for approval of CE hours through the CAS with the course syllabus, speaker CV, and certificate of completion; there is no fee for member applications. CCEDseminars courses are co-sponsored by Texas Chiropractic College, a CCE-accredited college, and are built to that review standard. Approval status displays per course in your account once Saskatchewan is set as your jurisdiction.
