Read the TMJ as part of a system. Work the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the temporomandibular joint together with its critical relationship to the cervical spine, so jaw dysfunction and neck dysfunction are assessed as one mechanical chain.
Assess joint function, inflammation and degeneration. Master the clinical assessment tools for joint function, inflammatory markers and degenerative patterns — the three findings that decide whether a TMD case is mechanical, inflammatory, or both.
Build a multi-modal treatment plan. Implement manipulation techniques, cold light laser therapy and targeted trigger point protocols as complementary tools rather than competing preferences.
