Two children sit in the same classroom, hear the same lesson, and leave with different amounts of it. Some of that difference is functional anatomy — how information is processed, where language and motor skills sit on the developmental curve, and what a nervous system is ready to do at a given age. This two-hour course covers the functional anatomy of learning as it applies to boys and girls, and how to integrate that with chiropractic pediatrics and neurology. It works through how male and female brains process information differently, the disparities that appear in language, motor and behavioural skills, chiropractic considerations for learning difficulties, and the role of recreational time in learning — with the consistent framing that differences are to be accepted and turned into strengths.

Where Neurology CE Hours Count — State Rules Worth Knowing
Clinical neurology coursework is clinical subject matter — assessment, diagnosis and case management — which is exactly what several state boards ask for. In Iowa, these hours serve the 36-hour clinical case-management minimum; in Rhode Island, they address the 50-of-60 clinical requirement; and in Vermont — where practice-building coursework earns nothing — patient-care education like this counts fully under the clinical-focus rule.

Do boys and girls actually learn differently?
The course works from functional anatomy rather than stereotype: it covers how male and female brains process information differently, and where disparities show up in language, motor and behavioural skills. The framing throughout is that differences are to be accepted and turned into strengths, not ranked.
How does this connect to chiropractic practice?
Through pediatric neurology. A child brought in for a musculoskeletal complaint is also a developing nervous system, and learning difficulties frequently sit alongside motor and behavioural findings a chiropractor is already looking at. The course covers chiropractic considerations for learning difficulties specifically.
What does the course say about recreation time?
That it is not optional. There is a dedicated section on recreational time and its importance in learning — movement and unstructured play are treated as part of neurological development rather than a break from it, which matters when parents ask whether to trade recess for tutoring.
Can I use this when talking to parents and teachers?
That is much of the point. The objectives include leveraging developmental differences to enhance classroom experiences, so the material is written to be handed on — a chiropractor who can explain why a child struggles with one task and not another is useful to a family well beyond the adjustment.
Is this course about diagnosing learning disorders?
No. Diagnosis of learning and developmental disorders sits with the appropriate specialists. This course builds the functional-anatomy understanding behind learning differences and covers what a chiropractor can contribute and observe — recognising a pattern is not the same as labelling a child.
