Where Neurology CE Hours Count — State Rules Worth Knowing
Clinical neurology coursework is clinical subject matter — assessment, diagnosis and case management — which is exactly what several state boards ask for. In Iowa, these hours serve the 36-hour clinical case-management minimum; in Rhode Island, they address the 50-of-60 clinical requirement; and in Vermont — where practice-building coursework earns nothing — patient-care education like this counts fully under the clinical-focus rule.

Neurology 261 — Frequently Asked Questions
What has actually changed in concussion management?
The consensus guidelines have moved considerably, and the course is built around that — current definitions, updated guidelines, and what the present evidence supports. It is explicitly a “what’s new” course, so the value is in the delta rather than in the fundamentals.
How is this different from Neurology 212 and 217?
Those are the pediatric and adolescent courses — concussion in children, and the concussed teen returning to learn. 261 is the general update: current definitions, assessment instruments, severity assessment, and building a collaborative management team. Take 212 and 217 for the age-specific pathways, 261 for where the field now stands.
Which assessment instruments does it cover?
It introduces the diagnostic tools and instruments in use and asks you to evaluate them — that evaluation is a stated objective rather than a demonstration. Severity assessment gets its own closer look, because that is where instruments most often get over-read.
What does “collaborative team” mean in practice?
Developing effective collaboration systems for concussion management is one of the three learning objectives, which tells you how central it is. Concussion crosses primary care, neurology, optometry, vestibular therapy and sport, and the course treats knowing your part and your referral routes as a clinical skill.
Is a chiropractor an appropriate provider for concussion?
As part of a team, and within a defined role — which is what the collaborative-management section exists to establish. The course covers management and prognosis from current evidence and applies it to real-world scenarios, including the situations where a chiropractor’s job is recognition and routing rather than treatment.
