Course Description: Athletes of all ages, sports, levels and abilities can suffer cervical spine disc injuries. This comprehensive course explores the anatomy and physiology of the cervical spine with emphasis on the intervertebral discs. The class details the mechanism of injury of common cervical disc conditions suffered by athletes. Navigation of the consultation, examination and imaging specifics to better diagnosis and treat athletes is covered in detail. This two hour presentation contains educational materials to better perform in-office treatment and to heighten patient education.

Course Outline: 

  • Detailed explanation of cervical spine anatomy and physiology.
  • Description of common cervical disc injuries and their mechanism of injury.
  • In-office chiropractic treatment for neck pain.
  • Patient education strategies for prevention, rehabilitation & return to activity. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Build an increased understanding of anatomy & physiology of the cervical spine, especially the IVD.
  • Expand clinical knowledge to properly diagnose, treat and rehabilitate cervical disc injuries.
  • Develop tools to educate patients in prevention, management and rehabilitation of cervical injuries.
  • Implementation of new skills in the management of cervical spine sports injuries.
