Georgia chiropractors must complete a minimum of 20 continuing education hours each year of the two-year renewal period — 40 hours in total — and no more than 20 of those 40 hours may be earned through the audio, visual, or electronic media category. Licenses renew by December 31 of even-numbered years, and each year's 20 hours must break down into 15 hours of clinical sciences, 4 hours of ethics or risk management, and 1 hour of Georgia laws and rules.
Two features of the Georgia rule catch doctors out. The electronic cap is a biennial figure, not an annual one — 20 hours across the whole two-year cycle, which is half your total. And the annual category minimums add up to exactly 20, so every hour of your yearly requirement is already spoken for. There is no unallocated elective room inside a compliant year.

Course approval in Georgia runs course by course through the CE Broker platform, and approval by another state's board does not carry over. The Board allows a total of 20 hours of CE per biennial renewal period to be obtained through the audio, visual, or electronic media category. Against a 40-hour cycle requirement, that is exactly half.
Read that as a two-year budget rather than an annual allowance. Twenty hours is what you get for the whole cycle, however you distribute it — the remaining 20 hours must satisfy the Board's attendance requirements.
Live webinars do not help here. The Board credits live webinars toward the audio/visual/electronic media category specifically because courses taken that way do not satisfy its attendance requirements. If you are planning around the cap, treat live webinars and on-demand coursework as drawing from the same 20 hours.

Those three figures sum to 20 — the full annual minimum. Georgia does not leave a block of free electives inside a compliant year the way many states do, so every hour you take needs to land in a category that counts.
The Georgia laws-and-rules hour is the one most often left to the end. It is a single hour, it is required every year, and it is state-specific — a general ethics course will not satisfy it.
Renewal is required by December 31 of even-numbered years. If you do not renew by that date, you cannot practice until the license is renewed or reinstated.
A late renewal window with a penalty fee runs from January 1 through January 31 of the following odd-numbered year. During that window the license sits in a lapsed late-renewal status, and — this is the part worth underlining — you still cannot practice. The window lets you pay and renew; it does not let you work.
Miss January 31 and the license goes to lapsed status on February 1, at which point returning to practice requires a full reinstatement application rather than a renewal.
CE Broker is the Board's official CE tracking system. You do not send proof of completion to the Board unless you are selected for an audit — you report to CE Broker instead, and the Board provides every licensee a free Basic Account.
Inside the Basic Account you can see your course history and your CE compliance status, which shows what has been reported and whether you have met the requirement. That status screen is the fastest way to catch a missing course while there is still time to fix it.
One practical trap: reporting a course without attaching the supporting documentation does not earn the credit. If you self-report, upload the certificate at the same time.
Georgia approves continuing education through CE Broker under Board Rules 100-5-.02 and 100-5-.04. Providers submit course applications with documentation, and those courses route to the Board for approval. Chiropractic colleges accredited by the Commission on Chiropractic Education follow a separate rule-approval route.
The practical consequence for you: check the course, not the reputation. A course approved by another state's board is not automatically approved in Georgia, and it is your responsibility to confirm status before you enroll.
New licensees are automatically exempt from the CE requirement in the calendar year in which they are initially licensed.
