Saddle anesthesia is numbness or altered sensation in the areas that would contact a saddle — the perineum, buttocks, and inner thighs. Combined with bilateral leg symptoms or bladder and bowel dysfunction, it is a classic red flag for Cauda Equina syndrome, a surgical emergency.
