PACE Courses Are Accepted by Idaho Rule

Idaho doesn't make you chase course-by-course pre-approval. The Board's rules list the accepted CE sources directly, and Providers of Approved Continuing Education (PACE) is one of them — alongside accredited colleges and universities and AMA PRA certified activities.

Carryover: Idaho Lets Extra Hours Roll Forward — Once

Most states let surplus CE evaporate at the end of a cycle. Idaho doesn't: hours not claimed in the current renewal cycle may be claimed in the next one. The limit is that they roll forward one cycle only — hours can't be banked indefinitely across multiple cycles.

Practical read: finishing a heavy CE year isn't wasted effort. If you complete a certification program or a deep bundle that carries you past 36 hours, the surplus counts toward your next cycle — provided you claim it in that immediately following cycle.

New Licensees, Inactive Status & Hardship Waivers

Newly licensed: you're exempt from continuing education for the period between the initial issuance of your original license and that license's first expiration date. CE begins with your first full renewal cycle.

Inactive status: CE requirements are waived for any year or portion of a year during which a licensee holds an inactive license and is not actively practicing in Idaho. Returning to active status requires documenting completion of the renewal CE requirement within the previous 24 months.

Hardship: the Board may waive CE requirements for health or other good cause. Request the waiver in advance of renewal and be prepared to substantiate it — the waiver is granted at the Board's sole discretion.

Hold Idaho Clinical Nutrition Certification? Additional Hours Apply

Idaho's Clinical Nutrition Certification is a separate Board credential — it authorizes certified chiropractic physicians to obtain and administer specified prescription drug products in practice. Certificate holders must recertify every four years by completing a 12-hour recertification course covering both didactic education and practical review and practice of contemporary developments in clinical nutrition.

Two things to know: those 12 hours are required in addition to the 36-hour CE requirement, not within it — and the recertification course must be approved by the Board and includes a hands-on practical component. Confirm approved recertification options directly with the Idaho Board of Chiropractic Physicians.
