Indiana chiropractors must complete 24 hours of continuing education every two-year renewal period, due by July 1 of each even-numbered year, with no more than 12 hours counted in any single licensure year — and within those 24 hours, at least 8 must be in public health and/or risk management, of which a minimum of 4 must be risk management, under the Indiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners (846 IAC 1-8-1). Indiana chiropractors must complete 24 hours of continuing education during each two-year renewal period. Licenses expire on July 1 of each even-numbered year.
The 24 hours carry an annual cadence: no more than 12 hours may be counted in any single licensure year, which many doctors plan as 12 hours per year. Continuing education is not required for the year in which the initial license was issued.
Within the 24 hours, at least 8 hours must be in public health and/or risk management, and of those 8, a minimum of 4 must be in risk management. Many doctors plan this as 4 required hours per licensure year.
Indiana defines risk management as the chiropractor's legal responsibility to the patient — so documentation, coding compliance, HIPAA, ethics and boundaries, and malpractice-law coursework all speak directly to this requirement.

All 24 hours may be earned online. The Indiana Board accepts continuing education by distance learning provided by an approved organization, as specified in Indiana Code IC 25-1-4.
Under that provision, a program offered by an approved organization no longer requires a separate course-approval application to the Board. Indiana recognizes CE from approved organizations, including FCLB PACE providers.
