Utah chiropractic physicians must complete 40 hours of continuing education in each preceding two-year period of licensure, with licenses expiring May 31 of each even-numbered year — and no more than 10 of those 40 hours may be earned by distance learning, under the Utah Division of Professional Licensing (R156-73-303a). That distance-learning cap is the single most important planning constraint in Utah: at least 30 hours must come from other formats. Each licensee must complete 40 hours of continuing education in each preceding two-year period of licensure. Chiropractor licenses expire May 31 of even-numbered years, so the cycle runs from June 1 of an even year through May 31 two years later.
DOPL mails a renewal notice to your address of record at least 60 days before expiration — keep your address current, since a missed notice does not extend the deadline. The renewal fee for a chiropractic physician license is $103, and renewal is completed online through DOPL's licensing portal.
Utah is among the more restrictive states for online continuing education. No more than 10 hours of continuing education, in each two-year period of licensure, may be by distance learning.
What that means in practice:
If a provider implies you can complete a Utah renewal entirely online, that does not match the rule. Confirm format eligibility before you enrol in anything you intend to count.
Rather than publishing a list of pre-approved courses, Utah sets criteria that qualifying continuing education must satisfy:

New licensees. The required number of hours for an individual who first becomes licensed during the two-year period is prorated to the part of that period during which the person was licensed. Contact DOPL to confirm your figure rather than estimating it.
Hardship waivers. The Utah board may review and waive the continuing education requirement for a licensee who presents sufficient evidence of hardship, illness, or other reason making it impossible or highly impractical to have attended enough continuing education. Waivers are at the board's discretion; request in advance.
Records. As the licensee, you are responsible for maintaining competent records of completed continuing education for two years after the two-year period is complete.
